Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh recently addressed the ongoing nepotism debate, calling it “overhyped.” Despite being the grandson of legendary singer Mukesh, he believes success isn’t guaranteed for star kids.
Neil Nitin Mukesh On Nepotism
Neil shared that his journey in Bollywood has been full of struggles. Speaking to ANI, he said, “If being a nepo kid really gave an advantage, I wouldn’t have had to struggle so much. I would have been in a completely different place today.”
Neil feels nepotism is sensationalized in Bollywood because actors are constantly in the public eye. He said, “It has become a slang term now, but people don’t realize that it doesn’t work the way they think it does.”
He pointed out that actors like Kartik Aaryan, Rajkummar Rao, and Vikrant Massey have achieved success purely through talent, proving that the industry values hard work.
Neil emphasised that while connections may provide opportunities, only talent and perseverance help actors sustain themselves in the industry. He concluded, “These actors don’t come from film families, yet they are doing exceptionally well. That’s because their work speaks louder than their backgrounds.” Neil hopes people recognize the dedication required to succeed, regardless of background.
On the work front, the actor was last seen in Hisaab Barabar alongside R Madhavan, Rashami Desai and Kirti Kulhari.
