Actor Ishaan Khatter shared an heartfelt message after his film Homebound was not nominated for this year’s Academy Awards. On Friday, Ishaan posted a series of stills, behind-the-scenes photos, and clips from the film’s sets on Instagram. Similarly, actor Vishal Jethwa expressed his disappointment over the film’s snub from the Oscar shortlist but also shared a sense of pride.
Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa Pen Heartfelt Notes For Homebound
Ishaan reflected on Homebound, describing it as a film that has “always ultimately been hopeful” and deeply personal. He wrote, “Homebound is and always was a piece of my heart. It’s a story that takes us on an inward journey after daring to look beyond the bubble we identify ourselves with. Despite reflecting a tough reality, this film has always felt hopeful to me—in every way I relate to it—as a human, as a filmmaker, and as a young actor.”
Speaking about the film’s director, Neeraj Ghaywan, Ishaan expressed his trust and admiration. He wrote, “I can always trust your conscience as a yardstick. As we come to the end of one chapter of this journey, I will always look back at it with love and gratitude—and as a moral compass. @neeraj.ghaywan I love you, brother. There are very few people I can say this about, but I know I can always trust your conscience.” He concluded, “Love to all the heroes behind the camera and to everyone who owned this film and spoke of it like their own. Homebound (infinity symbol) no feeling is final.”
Vishal Jethwa Pens Emotional Note
Vishal Jethwa also shared his thoughts on the Oscar omission. In a heartfelt social media post, he wrote, “Homebound Oscars. Yes, we didn’t make it to the nominations, and of course, it broke the hope we carried. But I believe failure isn’t when you fail; it’s when you don’t try. From day one, the entire Homebound team just tried.”
He added, “I’m proud that we made it to the top 15 and that our film was associated with the prestigious Oscars. That’s more than I ever imagined or deserved.” Vishal expressed gratitude to the team and his loved ones. He wrote, “Will always be grateful to Jogi sir, Neeraj sir, and Karan sir. My love and respect to Ishaan, Janhvi, and my Homebound family. Thank you, BHAGWAN,” before sharing a popular motivational couplet.
