Palaash Muchhal Accused Of Cheating Maharashtra Man Of Rs 40 Lakhs; FIR Filed, Police Investigation Begins

The man filed a complaint with the police in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, alleging that he was cheated out of Rs 40 lakh by Palaash Muchhal, according to officials on Thursday. Palaash Muchhal, a music composer and singer who recently made headlines for calling off his wedding with batter Smriti Mandhana, is now in the news again.

Palaash Muchhal Accused Of Cheating Sangli Man Of Rs 40 Lakhs

As reported by PTI, a fraud complaint was lodged against Palaash. Vidnyan Mane, a 34-year-old actor and producer from the area, approached the Sangli police. He claimed he was defrauded by Palaash of Rs 40 lakh. Mane submitted a written application to the Sangli Superintendent of Police on Tuesday seeking an FIR. The complaint states that Palash met Mane in Sangli on December 5, 2023.

Mane alleges that Palaash expressed interest in investing in his upcoming film project, Nazaria, as a producer. Palaash reportedly told Mane that he could earn a profit of Rs 12 lakh on an investment of Rs 25 lakh after the film’s OTT release, and also offered Mane a role in the film. The two reportedly met twice more after that, and Mane claims he transferred a total of Rs 40 lakh to Palaash by March 2025.

However, the project was not completed, and Mane subsequently demanded his money back but allegedly received no response. Frustrated, he approached the Sangli police. Authorities are currently conducting a preliminary investigation. Palaash has not yet issued a statement regarding these allegations.

What Happened Between Palaash Mucchal-Smriti Mandhana?

This incident follows just a month after Palaash and Smriti Mandhana’s wedding was called off. The wedding was scheduled for November 23 but was postponed after Smriti’s father, Shriniwas, was hospitalized with a heart condition. Palaash later issued a statement expressing his decision to “move on” and lamented the online speculation regarding their relationship.

“I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship. It’s been very difficult to see people react so easily to baseless rumors about something so sacred to me. This is the most challenging phase of my life, and I plan to handle it with grace, holding onto my beliefs,” he stated. He urged the public to think before amplifying unverified claims. Muchhal said, “I truly hope we, as a society, learn to pause before judging someone based on unverified gossip, whose sources are never clear. Our words can wound in ways we may never understand.”

Palaash has composed music for various songs including Tu Hi Hai Aashiqui, Nachle Tu, Naach Basanti, Sasure Ke Kaudy Lag Gaye, Teri Ek Hassi, Musafir, Kinara, and Khuda Ke Banday, among others. He has also directed films such as Ardh and Kaam Chalu Hai.
