Kichcha Sudeep, Suniel Shetty, Aakanksha Singh and Kabir Duhan Singh starrer ‘Pehlwaan’ is all set to hit theatres today. People have been saying that the movie looks quite similar to what Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ was. However, only when you see it you’ll get to know. We had the privilege to watch the film at the special screening, and here’s our take on the film after the first half of the movie.

Kichcha Sudeep’s love story of a wrestler is no Sultan. The first half of the movie is a typical South potboiler with shirts fluttering, hair flowing, things going haywire in slow motion and whatnot. Amidst all that, the storyline seems nothing novel as it’s just harping on the same age-old story of a boy-girl romance with villainous parents and other similar negative characters.

The film’s first half is laden with songs which do no good to the storyline and just gives you time to take a loo break. Salman Khan’s ‘Sultan’ had a solid story with lots of wrestling sprewn all over, however, ‘Pehlwaan’ isn’t that.

The sports aspect is shown really less, and I am hoping the second half has more of it and less of a romantic angle. After all, it’s promoted to be a sports drama.
