Priyanka Chopra Reveals Why She Has Bodyguards Reflecting On Paparazzi Culture

In a world filled with constant surveillance, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is taking decisive steps to safeguard her family’s privacy. Although accustomed to the global spotlight, her role as a mother to Malti Marie has shifted her perspective on security and personal boundaries. Priyanka recently explained that hiring a security team isn’t about vanity or status but about creating a safe space for her daughter to enjoy a normal childhood away from the public eye.

Priyanka Chopra On People Filming Malti Marie, Having Bodyguards

In an honest interview with Variety, Priyanka Chopra clarified that her reason for having bodyguards isn’t rooted in fear of physical harm. Chopra said her security team understands that she enjoys interacting with fans. “I am ok with being approached by anyone and taking photos, and they (guards) know that I love people coming to talk to me,” she explained. But she added that the guards are there “to make sure we’re not being recorded without consent.”

The actor elaborated that with everyone carrying phones, it’s easy for people to take pictures or videos without permission. She shared, “That’s my biggest thing with everyone having cellphones. It happens often, especially with my daughter. We’re in the park or having ice cream, and suddenly I’ll see it online.”

Priyanka candidly clarified her stance on risk, saying, “Otherwise, I don’t need it. Nobody’s gonna kill me.” Since welcoming Malti Marie in January 2022, Priyanka has shared glimpses of her family life on social media. However, she remains committed to keeping her daughter’s face private.

PC Wants Malti Marie To Enjoy Her Childhood

She explained that her security team acts as a shield against digital intrusion. Priyanka wants Malti Marie to enjoy her childhood freely—playing in the park or eating ice cream without the fear of being filmed without permission. She recognises that in today’s world, everyone carries a camera, making it difficult to have private moments.

This protective instinct echoes her role in her new film, The Bluff. She portrays a mother willing to do anything to safeguard her family. In real life, that means keeping the cameras at bay. Priyanka is happy to remain a beloved public figure for her fans but prioritises her role as a mother.
