Rajpal Yadav Cheque Bounce Case: Actor’s Interim Bail Extended Till THIS Date
The development comes amid a long-running legal dispute in which Yadav has now decided to contest the matter in court rather than pursue a financial settlement. During the hearing, the court noted that the actor had already made “substantial payments” toward the outstanding amount and was cooperating with proceedings.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma observed that there was no immediate reason to send the actor back to jail. “I don’t find any reason. He’s not running away, he’s here, He’s coming to court, and he has also been in jail. He’s already on bail; I’m not sending him to jail. The actor has made some substantial payments. So I’ll not send him to jail, right now,” the bench said.

About Rajpal Yadav Rs 9 Cr Cheque Bounce Case
The case dates back to 2010, when Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial debut Ata Pata Laapata (2012). The film failed commercially, leading to financial losses and a subsequent dispute over repayment. In 2018, a magisterial court convicted the actor under the Negotiable Instruments Act for cheque dishonour and sentenced him to six months in jail. In 2019, the sessions court had upheld the conviction. Over time, the liability reportedly increased to nearly Rs 9 crore.
Rajpal Yadav was granted interim bail earlier and released from custody on February 16. As part of the bail conditions, the court directed him to deposit Rs 1.5 crore, which was confirmed by the complainant’s counsel as having been paid. He also furnished a Rs 1 lakh bail bond along with a surety.
With the High Court now extending his interim protection, the case is set to proceed with arguments on April 1, as Yadav prepares to challenge the matter legally rather than settle it out of court. Meanwhile, several members of the film industry, including actors Sonu Sood and Mika Singh, have publicly expressed support for him amid the ongoing legal battle.
