In the latest development in actor Rajpal Yadav’s ongoing legal battle, the case has taken a sharper turn as the court expressed clear displeasure over what it sees as inconsistent standpoints regarding his financial commitments. The matter, which stems from a cheque bounce case dating back to 2024, has seen multiple hearings, assurances, and delays, but the latest proceedings suggest the court’s patience may be running thin. What began as a financial dispute has now evolved into a closely watched legal saga, with the court questioning both intent and credibility in Yadav’s repeated promises to settle dues.
Delhi HC Denies Rajpal Yadav 30-Day Extension To Pay Rs 6 Cr In Cheque Bounce Case
The matter was heard on Thursday, where the court appeared visibly dissatisfied with Rajpal Yadav’s changing stance on clearing his dues. The judge indicated that while Yadav claimed he was ready to pay, his legal team’s arguments suggested otherwise, creating confusion around his actual position.
During the proceedings, the court questioned why the case was still being argued if the actor was genuinely willing to settle the amount. The judge also refused to grant additional time when Yadav requested 30 days to arrange Rs. 6 crores, making it clear that no further delays would be entertained.
Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma declined Yadav’s request for 30 days to pay Rs 6 crore towards settlement, stating unequivocally: “No means no. I will reserve (for judgment). I will not give more time,” according to Bar and Bench.
Highlighting the inconsistency, the judge said: “You are saying you are willing to pay, but your lawyers are saying that since you have already gone to jail, you will not pay. If you are willing to pay, then why am I hearing the matter? Make the payment.”
About Rajpal Yadav Cheque Bounce Case
This case dates back to 2024, when a sessions court had found Yadav guilty in a cheque bounce matter and sentenced him to six months in jail. The High Court had later paused his sentence after he assured that he would resolve the dispute financially, even referring the matter to mediation for a possible settlement.
However, the situation escalated when the court observed that multiple assurances made by the actor were not fulfilled. Despite seeking time on several occasions, Yadav reportedly failed to deposit key amounts he had committed to, including a significant sum he had proposed to pay in instalments.
With the court now reserving its judgment and refusing further extensions, the case appears to be approaching a decisive stage. The strong remarks from the bench underline a clear message — compliance, not assurances, will determine the outcome. As the proceedings move forward, all eyes remain on whether Yadav will meet the financial obligations or face stricter legal consequences.
