The excitement surrounding Ramayana has intensified, but not without some controversy. As fans eagerly await Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama, the filmmakers made an unexpected move that has stirred debate. The epic film features a star-studded cast, including Yash as Ravana, and recently released its first visuals in Los Angeles—not in India. Fans back home noticed this overseas reveal and expressed their displeasure over the Ramayana makers.

Fans Are Upset With Ramayana Makers, Ranbir Kapoor For Releasing First Look Abroad

Ranbir Kapoor, along with director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, travelled to Los Angeles to showcase the initial footage of Ramayana to a select international audience. While this highlights the film’s global ambitions, it has also left many Indian fans feeling overlooked. Given that Ramayana is a deeply rooted cultural and mythological story, many believe the first glimpse should have been shared within India, where the story holds the most significance.

Internet Reactions

On Reddit and social media, reactions were swift and critical. Users questioned the strategy, with one commenting, “How is promoting abroad the plan to recover any money? Where is the lore, the fan following, the connection to the characters? Money won’t come from Western audiences, who are spoiled for choice with Marvel, DC, Sonic, Mario, and other gaming icons. If they want to make a profit, it should be from India.”

Another user expressed frustration, saying, “Insane disrespect for us.”

A third highlighted the importance of audience loyalty. The post read, “Making a movie from our mythology, targeting the audience that will contribute the most to its success, but of course, why would they screen it for us first? Why expect loyalty from us if they’re not even prioritising us?”

Adding a touch of sarcasm, one comment summed up the general sentiment: “Way to target the main audience of Ramayana—Los Angeles is known for its love of Lord Ram. They could have just gone to Ayodhya; it would have been ten times cheaper.”
