Actor Ranbir Kapoor is all geared up for his role in the Sanjay Dutt biopic where he will essay the latter’s role. As a part of the preparations, he put on weight and beefed up to look like Sanjay Dutt and also adopted his mannerisms. We have come across many pictures of Ranbir walking and talking like Mr Dutt. But, now it’s going to be very tough for the actor as he needs to shed all those extra pounds for his role in ‘Jagga Jasoos’ as he plays a skinny lad in the movie. And, considering the fact that it’s not a cakewalk to lose so much weight, he has asked trainer Kunal Gir to help him out with the diets and exercises.

Speaking about his weight loss journey, Kunal said to DNA, “We’re being careful so it isn’t harmful to his body. Crash diets and rigorous exercises usually take a toll. He also doesn’t have his 3 am protein shake anymore. Sometimes, he also follows the high-intensity, travel training cardio session when he needs to look leaner. It reduces puffiness. It’s a 10-hour cardio session which is wrapped in 30 minutes. I turn off the treadmill and he continues running on it. It’s extremely taxing with 40-second breaks in between. But I have learned the hard way that one needs to focus on one’s exit strategy — what comes after you lose the weight gained. To lose muscle is the easiest thing to do.”

It’s going to be doubly tough for Ranbir as he will have to lose weight and then again gain weight for the biopic as it needs to be completed by June or July. In the case of Anurag Basu’s ‘Jagga Jasoos’, there have been many delays with the release date and the makers are aiming for a May release.
