The Guwahati Crime Branch has previously interrogated YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, who was also featured in the controversial episode. On Friday, another YouTuber, Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, appeared before the Assam Police in Guwahati regarding comments he made during Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. He was questioned by the Crime Branch, and further details are pending.
Ranveer Allahbadia Appears Before Assam Police
In a prior statement, Guwahati’s Joint Police Commissioner Ankur Jain confirmed Chanchlani’s compliance during his interrogation: “Chanchlani showed up for interrogation at the Crime Branch. He has complied with our enquiry. We will phone him if necessary, but we are not currently calling him again. Police notices have not yet received a response from other people connected to the investigation. They will receive new summonses shortly.”
What Is the India’s Got Latent Controversy?
Ranveer Allahbadia is currently facing backlash due to comments made during the India’s Got Latent episode. He allegedly posed inappropriate questions to a contestant, including a provocative offer involving body parts in exchange for a sum of Rs 2 crore. The situation escalated when he asked a particularly controversial question: “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join them once to stop it forever?”
In light of this incident, a police complaint has been filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and several co-judges, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija. The FIR accuses them of promoting obscene and sexually explicit content on the show, invoking several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
What Did Ranveer Allahbadia Say About His Comment?
In response to the backlash, Ranveer issued an apology through a video statement. He said, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate; it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am here to say sorry. Many of you have asked if this is how I wish to use my platform, and obviously, this is not how I wish to use it. I won’t provide any context, justification, or reasoning for what happened. I am just here to apologize.”
