Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone Increase Mumbai Residence Security Following Rs 10 Cr Threat

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have ramped up security at their Mumbai residence following reports that Ranveer received a threatening WhatsApp voice note. The actor couple has taken immediate measures to ensure their safety. An official letter from their housing complex addressed to Dadar Police Station has revealed that they have deployed armed security personnel outside their home. This move comes after reports surfaced claiming that Ranveer was targeted with a threatening message via WhatsApp, in which the sender allegedly demanded crores.

Hindustan Times accessed the letter sent to the police, which states that the couple has stationed six armed security personnel without prior approval from the Society Managing Committee. Additionally, one police officer in uniform is stationed alongside them.

The Society Committee, however, expressed ‘serious concern’ over the situation, citing worries about the safety and comfort of other residents. They noted that the armed personnel were moving around with weapons in the lobby, gymnasium, and children’s area, and called for verification from the police regarding whether the security arrangements had been authorised.

India Today reported that Ranveer informed the Mumbai Police about the extortion threat. It was followed by security outside his residence. The police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for sending the voice note. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses. The move follows reports that Ranveer received a threatening WhatsApp voice note from an unidentified sender. They demanded an alarming sum of approximately Rs 10 crore.

Madhavan, and is available on Netflix. Its sequel is scheduled for release in theatres on March 19.
