Ranveer Singh Kantara Mimicry Row

Ahead of the release of Dhurandhar in December, Ranveer Singh courted controversy after mimicking a powerful Daiva scene from Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 during the IFFI (International Film Festival of India) 2025 closing ceremony. This resulted in the actor facing severe backlash from the Kannadiga community and a complaint being filed against him in the Karnataka High Court.

Now, as Dhurandhar The Revenge continues to win the hearts of the audiences globally, a report has surfaced suggesting that the actor will be filing an affidavit offering an “unconditional apology” for his actions soon. Read on to know the details.

Ranveer Singh To File Unconditional Apology Over Kantara Mimicry Row

As reported by NDTV, Ranveer Singh is set to file an affidavit in the Karnataka High Court offering an ‘unconditional apology’ for his actions. According to the report, the affidavit will be submitted by Singh to the court on April 10. Aside from this, the actor’s lawyer also stated that Singh will visit the Chamundi Temple in Mysuru to personally apologise.

This decision comes as the complainant’s lawyer, Prashant Methal, criticised Ranveer in the Karnataka High Court for only giving a social media apology. He argued that the apology felt more formal than genuine, as the ‘Dhurandhar’ actor had not spoken about it publicly. In response, Ranveer’s lawyer said the actor was hurt and would soon issue a written apology.

Ranveer Singh’s Instagram Story Apology

Following the massive backlash soon after the video of him mocking the Daiva scene went viral, Ranveer posted an apology note on his Instagram Stories. In it, he wrote, “My intention was to highlight Rishabh Shetty’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration.” He further added, “I have always deeply respected every cultural tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”

Previously, Rishab Shetty had indirectly addressed this row at an event, saying, “That makes me uncomfortable. While much of the film is cinema and performance, the Daiva element is sensitive and sacred. Wherever I go, I request people not to perform it on stage or mock it. It is emotionally deeply connected to us.”

A couple of days ago, ‘Kantara’ actor Rishab Shetty took to social media and praised Dhurandhar 2. The actor-filmmaker tweeted, “DhurandharTheRevenge the very first scene pulls you in and never lets go. Every frame hits like a war drum. This isn’t just a sequel; it’s a statement. Brilliant storytelling, brother absolutely loved the detailing, @AdityaDharFilms . Top-notch performances by every single artist @ActorMadhavan sir, @rampalarjun , @RanveerOfficial , @bolbedibol #SaraArjun and @duttsanjay sir take a bow.”
