Actor Ranveer Singh, with fifteen years and eighteen films under his belt, is leaping into film production, planning to launch his own production house this year. He is known for his performances in Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela to name a few. As per reports, the actor will be taking up a BTS role soon.
Ranveer Singh plans to launch his production house this year
According to PeepingMoon, Ranveer has registered a production company and is establishing its office near his Mumbai residence in Prabhadevi. He’s actively developing projects, with filmmaker Aditya Dhar, who is directing him in “Dhurandhar,” assisting him in the process. One major project in development is reportedly a large-scale mythological film. Industry speculation suggests this could potentially be “The Immortal Ashwatthama,” Aditya Dhar’s ambitious project, which Ranveer and Dhar may collaborate to revive. Ranveer is also working on a high-concept, post-apocalyptic action film.
This move into production comes as Ranveer’s recent films haven’t performed well at the box office and some potential projects have stalled. An industry source suggests that Ranveer wants more creative control. “He wants to be more creatively involved in his projects rather than leaving their fate entirely in the hands of others,” the source stated. “As a producer, he can create opportunities for himself… He wants to take charge and collaborate…to produce challenging and unconventional cinema.”
Ranveer had previously registered a production company, “Maa Kasam Films,” in December 2017, though it never launched. It remains unclear if he will revive this venture or launch a completely new entity. His wife, Deepika Padukone, who also owns a production company, is providing support and guidance.
Regarding upcoming projects, Ranveer’s only confirmed release for this year is Aditya Dhar’s espionage action thriller “Dhurandhar.” In this high-budget film, he plays a RAW agent in Pakistan, with a cast including Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna. While Farhan Akhtar’s “Don 3” is scheduled to begin filming in June, it’s unlikely to start on time. Meanwhile, Ranveer’s long-awaited superhero film “Shaktiman” has been indefinitely postponed.
