Shahid Kapoor, Rangoon

Shahid Kapoor is depicting the role of a soldier in Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming film ‘Rangoon’. This news was welcomed by Sasha’s fans, as the coming together of the talented actor and the filmmaker was equated to a hit by them. The second news that the film also stars Saif Ali Khan in a pivotal role has raised the expectations to a high level. Finally, the cherry on the cake was Kangana Ranaut, who will be adding a romantic touch to the film.

Well, the coming together of Kareena Kapoor’s past (Shahid Kapoor) and present (Saif Ali Khan) albeit on screen has been creating waves. The filmmaker had desired to cast Kareena in as the romantic lead but as things did not turn out as expected Kangana was finalised. Now it is being rumoured that Shahid Kapoor’s character in the film was changed at the last moment.

Shahid Kapoor who was to play a turbanned Sikh soldier in ‘Rangoon’ will not be doing so now. Though the actor felt that he would look quite dapper as a Sardar in the film that is based on the background of World War, the filmmaker has ditched the idea. Vishal Bhardwaj felt that as many actors are already depicting the role of a Sardar onscreen he wanted something different for Shahid. Apparently now the ‘Haider’ actor will be seen depicting the role of a Muslim soldier in ‘Rangoon’.

Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Rangoon’ is a period film set during World War 11. It will be releasing sometime in October this year.

Which look of Shahid Kapoor would you have preferred for ‘Rangoon’, the present moustached one or the turbaned look?
