It’s indeed a sad day for lovers of Bollywood as veteran superstar Dharmendra Ji is no more. While he 89 year old’s last rights took place this afternoon at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai’s Vile Parle, several fans of the He-Man of Bollywood took to social media to fondly remember his and share fond memories.
The veteran superstar – who would have celebrated his 90th birthday this December 8, amassed loads of love and respects during the 65 years he was active in the Hindi film industry. Farhan Akhtar took to his Instagram handle and shared a black and white picture of the ‘Sholay’ actor. Alongside it he wrote, “A big, big loss to the entire film world. To those who make movies and to those who watch them, Dharam ji will forever remain irreplaceable. Thank you for six decades of entertainment. We are fortunate to have experienced your warmth, your kindness, your generosity, your charm, your intensity and your wit, on and off the screen. Deepest condolences to the Deol Family.”
Akshay Kumar took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “Growing up, Dharmendra ji was the hero every boy wanted to be… our industry’s original He-Man. Thank you for inspiring generations. You’ll live on through your films and the love you spread. Om Shanti”
Sharing a couple of pictures with the ‘Ikkis’ actor, Shilpa Shetty wrote on Instagram, “I’ve had the privilege of working with many talented actors, but none with a bigger heart than yours. Your talent, charm and dashing looks were just the beginning but your humility, simplicity and kindness were so inspiring. You were a true original, a shining star that touched so many hearts. Rest in peace you special soul. Dharamji, you will be missed Om Shanti“

About Dharmendra
Dharam Ji was born on December 8, 1935 in Nasrali, Punjab, British India (present-day Punjab, India). He passed away in November 2025 at age 89. In an impressive career spanning 65 years, the veteran superstar featured in over 250 films. He was even honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2012. Active till the very end, the actor’s posthumous release will be Ikkis – a war drama based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. This morning his look from the film was unveiled.
On the personal front, Dharam ji is survived by his 2 wives – Prakash Kaur – whom he married in 1954 and actress Hema Malini – whom he married in 1980, his 6 children – Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, Ajeeta, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol and 13 grandchildren, including Karan, Rajveer and Dharam.
