Manna Dey - The legendary singer passes away at 94

Legendary playback singer Manna Dey died after a long battle with respiratory problems. He was admitted to Narayan Hrudalaya and around 3.50 am died of a cardiac arrest. He had his daughter Shumita Deb and son-in-law Jnanranjan Deb besides him. Manna Dey’s body will be kept for public homage at Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bangalore.

Born in Kolkata in 1919, Dey, winner of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award was residing in Bangalore after spending more than fifty years in Mumbai.

He had recorded over 3,5000 songs in a number of languages and some of his popular tracks are Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli (Anand), Yeh Dosti (Sholay) and Ek Chatur Naar (Padosan) and Laga Chunari Mein Daag (Dil Hi Toh Hai) among others.
