Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is set to adapt a book for his first collaboration with Saif Ali Khan and has plans for another project with Kareena Kapoor Khan. After his recent big-screen offering, The Buckingham Murders (2023), which marked his first collaboration with Kareena, Mehta is now working on a new venture featuring her husband, Saif Ali Khan.

Saif Ali Khan And Hansal Mehta Collaborate For FIRST Time

“Saif and I are working on a film. I am directing it. It’s an adaptation of a book,” Mehta revealed to Mid-day during the Cinevesture International Film Festival held in Chandigarh. Khan has successfully navigated mainstream films, middle-ground cinema, and web series, making him a sought-after collaborator for the director.

However, Hansal Mehta’s admiration for Kareena Kapoor Khan shines through as he expresses a strong desire to work with her again. He is currently planning another project with the superstar, stating, “We have sent a script to Kareena. Every time I look at a script, I ask, ‘Can we do something with Kareena?’ You want to work with her over and over again; she is a different beast altogether. Kareena is one of the most prepared persons on set, a thorough professional, and always happy. She is a big star, but it was a privilege. It was as if I was working with Pratik [Gandhi] or Rajkummar [Rao].”

About Hansal Mehta’s Upcoming/Recent Projects

There’s more in store for Mehta, who launched his production house earlier this January and has initiated several new projects. He shared, “We are producing an outrageous comedy, and a slasher film. We’re also looking at co-producing a zombie film. There is also an unusual love story in the pipeline.”

Mehta has a busy work schedule ahead. In addition to his upcoming film with Khan, he is also working on an ambitious web series titled Gandhi and an action film. While mid-day reported that he was keen on casting Lakshya in the actioner, Mehta confirmed the project but remained tight-lipped about the cast.
