Saqib Saleem Is Eyeing Big-Screen Comeback; Shares, “I’m Hungry For Very Good Roles”

Currently seen in Kaptaan, over the years, from 83 to multiple OTT projects, he has carved a space for himself as a dependable performer. Saqib finds himself at a crucial point in his career, one where choices matter more than ever. The actor opened up about the kind of roles he seeks, his evolving mindset, and his desire to return to the big screen.

Saqib Saleem Is Eyeing Big-Screen Comeback

Talking about the phase he is currently in with News18, Saqib Saleem made it clear that he now wants roles that are crafted specifically for him and allow him to take centre stage. He said he is actively seeking more substantial opportunities and does not hesitate to take initiative. “I want roles at the headlining stage for myself, and I am one of those who, if I really want to work with somebody, reach out to them myself,” he shared.

At the same time, Saqib Saleem reflected on how his understanding of cinema has matured over the years, shaping the kind of work he now expects. “I feel that I am at that stage in my life where I am enjoying myself as an actor, as somebody who understands cinema a little better than I did 10 years ago. So I feel roles should come to me accordingly, and I am hoping that post Kaptaan, things will change and better opportunities will come,” he said.

Saqib Saleem: I Would Love To Do A Theatrical Film

While OTT has played a significant role in his journey, Saqib expressed a strong desire to return to theatrical films, without compromising on the quality of roles. He emphasised that meaningful characters remain his top priority. “I would love to do a theatrical film, and I have had success in the theatre market, so I want a theatrical film. But at the same time, I am an artist as well, so I am far hungrier for very good roles, roles that push me and allow me to show my skill set, as the artist inside me urges me to do,” he explained.

He also spoke about the emotional connection he shares with the big screen, tracing it back to his early days as a moviegoer. That connection continues to influence his ambitions even today. “The child who saw a film in Delhi theatres didn’t know OTT; I became an actor because I wanted to be seen in a theatre full of people,” Saqib concluded.
