Shah Rukh Khan And Suhana Khan

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King has created a lot of buzz among fans, even though it hasn’t gone on floors yet. The film is being planned for a 2026 release. It was initially expected to hit cinemas around Eid 2026, but recent reports suggest it may be delayed again due to production issues.

SRK’s King Delayed: Wants Script Perfected Before Shoot, Says Report

Directed by Siddharth Anand, King was supposed to begin shooting in May 2025. However, that schedule has now been pushed back. The delay is mainly because of ongoing changes in the script. Shah Rukh Khan reportedly wants the story to be perfect and isn’t satisfied with the current version. He wants to ensure that everything is in place before filming starts.

As per the Mid-Day sources, “Scripting is ongoing. The makers want to ensure they have a terrific script in hand before the camera starts rolling. King not only introduces Suhana on the big screen for the first time but also features the father-daughter duo together. Keeping these factors in mind, Shah Rukh wants the team to take their time to polish the material and deliver an ambitious movie. The team is now planning to begin filming in July-August.”

Interestingly, Deepika Padukone is expected to appear in a cameo in the film. As per reports from PeepingMoon, she will play the role of Suhana Khan’s mother. This wouldn’t be her first time playing a mother on-screen—she earlier played Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Jawan and Ranbir Kapoor in Brahmastra. She was also seen as Kalki’s mother in Kalki 2898 AD.

Besides SRK and Suhana, King will also feature Munjya actor Abhay Verma in a key role, while Abhishek Bachchan is believed to play the villain.
