In the early hours of Friday, two men on a motorcycle reportedly opened fire outside the house of Bollywood actress Disha Patani in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, according to police. The attack happened around 3 am in the Civil Lines area, where Disha’s family resides. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

After the incident, a post on social media surfaced, allegedly from wanted gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, claiming responsibility for the firing. They stated that it was a warning and revenge for an alleged insult made by Disha’s sister, Khushboo Patani, towards Hindu spiritual leaders Premanand Ji Maharaj and Anirudh Acharya Ji Maharaj. The post warned other Bollywood celebrities not to disrespect Hindu religious figures, threatening further violence.
Senior police officer Anurag Arya confirmed the firing and said that several police teams have been formed to catch the attackers. Additional security has also been deployed at the house to ensure the safety of Disha’s family. Disha Patani herself lives in Mumbai, but her parents and sister Khushboo were at home during the attack.
Khushboo Patani, a former Army Major, had recently been involved in a social media controversy after responding to a video by Anirudh Acharya Ji Maharaj. Some people misinterpreted her comment, believing it was aimed at Premanand Ji Maharaj. She later clarified on Instagram that her remarks were misunderstood, and targeted hate messages were being spread against her.
Police are currently verifying the authenticity of the social media post and investigating the involvement of the gangsters. Goldy Brar is believed to be hiding in the US, and Rohit Godara in the UK. Both are already wanted in several other cases by Indian authorities.
