Bollywood as an industry is constantly evolving and the flavour of the season is making biopics and war dramas. The year 2019’s biggest hit is Vicky Kaushal starrer ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ was based on India’s surgical strike against in 2016. Now, Sidharth Malhotra’s film based on Kargil hero Captain Vikram Batra has kicked off it’s shooting. The film has been titled as ‘Shershaah’.

Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions shared the news on micro-blogging site Twitter. And wrote, “The first day of shoot for #Shershaah in the presence of Lt. Gen Y.K. Joshi (then Lt. Col) & Commanding Officer of 13 JAK Rifles during Kargil War 1999 and Vishal Batra, brother of Vikram Batra.”

‘Shershaah’ will feature Sidharth Malhotra in the titular role and will tell the heroic tale of Captain Bartra sacrificing his life for the nation. This war drama also stars Kiara Advani.

For those who are unaware, Vikram Batra was a fearless officer who was posthumously awarded the Param Veer Chakra, India’s highest gallantry award for his bravery in the battle with the Pakistani army.

Sidharth Malhotra has often reiterated that ‘Shershaah’ is very dear to his heart and would want to do justice to the role. ‘Shershaah’ is being directed by Vishnu Varadhan.
