Sidharth Malhotra’s father, Sunil Malhotra, passed away in Delhi on Saturday, February 14, after a prolonged illness. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing. Following the funeral rites, Sidharth and his wife, actress Kiara Advani, travelled to Delhi and have remained in the city to support the family.

Sidharth shared the news on Instagram with an emotional message. He wrote, “He was a man of rare honesty, integrity, and culture. He lived by values that never wavered. Discipline without harshness. Strength without ego. Positivity, even when life tested him beyond measure.”

He added, “Papa, your integrity is my inheritance. Your strength guides me every day. Your positivity still holds this family together.” The loss comes after Sidharth had previously spoken about his father’s declining health in an interview with Lilly Singh last year. During their conversation, he admitted feeling guilty at times for living in Mumbai for work, as his mother was left to care for his father in Delhi. He reflected on the emotional challenges of balancing his acting career with his responsibilities towards his ageing parents.

The actor’s close sources revealed that Sunil Malhotra had been unwell for some time before his death. An insider told India Today, “The family is grieving and has requested privacy during this difficult period. Sidharth was extremely close to his father, and this is a profound loss not only for him but for the entire family.”
