Suniel Shetty Dhurandhar

Veteran actor Suniel Shetty recently expressed his admiration for the hit action-spy film Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, and revealed that he wished he could have been part of the project. In a candid conversation with Lehren, the actor opened up about watching the film and reflected on how close he once was to collaborating with Dhar on another big venture.

Suniel Shetty On Being A Part Of Dhurandhar

Shetty said he watched Dhurandhar and was genuinely impressed by the film’s execution, calling it “mind-blowing.” He shared that he had previously been signed to star in Aditya Dhar’s ambitious mythological project, The Immortal Ashwatthama, which was ultimately shelved despite all agreements having been finalised. Seeing Dhurandhar come together instead made him realise how much he would have loved to be part of the creative journey. “Dhurandhar dekhi maine. Mindblowing film, I felt.”

Discussing performances in the film, Shetty praised Akshaye Khanna and Ranveer Singh, noting that while everyone appreciated Khanna’s role, he personally felt that Dhar’s vision and Singh’s portrayal stood out to him. Saying, “Toh jab maine Dhurandhar dekhi toh I said yaar I wish I could be a part of it. And see, nazariya hai sabka dekhne ka. Sab ko Akshaye Khanna bohot achha laga. Mujhe Akshaye Khanna bohot achha laga. Lekin mujhe Aditya Dhar aur Ranveer Singh usse bhi zyaada better lage.”

Earlier, Suniel Shetty had also praised Dhurandhar and director Aditya Dhar’s ambitious storytelling while speaking to NDTV, appreciating how the filmmaker brought an OTT-style long format to the big screen. “He realised that people are used to OTT, so he said, you want OTT? I’ll give it to you on a larger screen. I’ll give you four hours on the big screen, and people lapped it up,” he said. Lauding the performances, he added, “The performances are outstanding. Akshaye Khanna is ten on ten. He is a fantastic actor,” while calling Ranveer Singh’s act “100 out of 10.”

Sunil Shetty On Rumours About Ahan Shetty’s High Entourage Costs

In the same interview, Shetty also touched upon his son Ahan Shetty’s rising career and defended him against rumours about entourage costs and alleged demands on film sets. Speaking on Ahan’s professionalism amid reports linking him to high entourage expenses, Suniel firmly rejected those claims, saying, “Ahan has never gone overboard with his entourage. These are all rumours. This gossip was circulated as per the producer’s convenience. If the producer says that he can show a bill, then I will see. There, the father steps in and will step in, very, very clearly. Don’t spread lies to hide your weaknesses, because it’s not fair on Ahan.”

Suniel Shetty’s recent comments reveal a blend of admiration and familial loyalty. While he missed the chance to work on The Immortal Ashwatthama and wishes he had been involved with Dhurandhar, his candid reflections also underline his continued passion for films that push creative boundaries, and his unwavering support for the next generation in his family.
