Suniel Shetty Main Hoon Na

Suniel Shetty is an actor, film producer, entrepreneur and television personality who is predominantly active in Hindi films. In a career spanning over 30 years, he has acted in over 100 films. During the trailer launch event of his upcoming film Kesari Veer, Suniel Shetty addresses got candid about many things, including the Prince Dhiman directorial and why he feels his character Ragahvan from Main Hoon Na was never a villain.

Suniel Shetty On His Main Hoon Na Character Raghavan

When mentioned that his character from Shah Rukh Khan’s Main Hoon Na is not considered a villain, Suneil said, “Jab desh se pyaar karta hoon villain ho hi nahi sakta. Desh se badhkar mere liye kuch nahi hai. I’m not just saying it, but even in sports, ya kahi bhi ho jab mere desh ki baat aarahi hai, I think I’m a different human being altogether. And that is why, isiliye main isko ek extension bolta hoon. Main kabhi dara nahi hoon, Raghavan negative tha according to script but jab maine sunna mujhe sirf do minute lage haa karne mein. I remember Farah (Khan) telling me the script, ‘Ache, ache sunke darr jaate hai, tum kaise haa boldiye’.”

He concluded by saying, “I said dushman humara humesha wohi rahega. Mere bache ki maut hui hai, woh bhi border ke iss paar mujhe sirf uski body chahiye. Aur dene ke liye taiyaar nahi the. Toh main kis angle se negative tha? Dev ke pov se bhi mujhe award mila tha for Dhakdan ki yeh negative hai, lekin jab aap apni girlfriend se Itna pyaar karte ho woh negative ho kaise sakta hai. So I look at all my characters this way. My character in the film is equally important. He loves his daughter. You will understand when you watch the film. I know it will be a struggle for people to watch the film in theatres”.

Suniel Shetty Opens Up On Kesari Veer’s Role

When asked if he doesn’t take any role without considering, and how was Kesari Veer different, Suniel Shetty said, “First of all, a very warm welcome to all of you here. Isme kya nahi iske liue main aisa kuch tha hi nahi ki main naa kahu. Humaare dharam ke baare mein baat kar rahe hai, humaare desh ke baare mein baat kar rahe hai. You know, we talk about who we are. Sanatam Dharam humko kya sikhakar gaya tha? Sirf dharm, karm aur seva uske liye alawa kuch nahi. Wahi cheez yeh film depict karta hai, ki who are we? Hum chup tab tak baithte hai jab tak hume provoke nahi kiya jaata.”

He added, ” Sab kuch sehlete hai jab tak hume provoke nahi kiya jaata hai. Jaise ki haal mein bhi ho raha hai, Government kaam kar rahi hai Kashmir mein kamaal ka hua hai. Article 370 lagu hua hai aur progress hua hai. Aur kuch log chahte hai ki woh progress naa ho. Toh yeh film bhi Wahi message de raha hai ki juttke rehena chahiye, ek hoke rehena chahiye. Aur bharatvasi hoke pehela rehena chahiye. So I think that’s the thing, toh Har Har Mahadev ke saath main bolunga Bharat Mata Ki Jai. Bas ek hoke juttke rehena hai, aur film mein bhi yahi message hai. This film tells the story of Somnath Temple and kitni baar logo ne use lootne ki koshish ki, lekin kabhi loot nahi paaye.”

Concluding, he said, “Hazaaro mein aaye lekin hum kuch 100-300 log the under Haamir. That’s the story. Thanks to Kanu bhai for making this film. I know it was your late wife’s wish to make this film. When you came to me with the role, I asked ‘Main hi kiu? Aur logo ko yahaan ticket lekar jaana padega lekin aap bole I only see you as Hamirji. Ek cheez kahunga, we are not talking about box office success here, it’s a small effort by Sooraj, Akansha, Prince and all of us, something we are passionate about. We hope it works, the film only showcases India, the culture and the beauty of the people.”
