Sunjay Kapur Will Dispute: Late Businessman’s Sister Mandhira Kapur Smith Accuses Priya Sachdev Of Filing False Defamation; Says, “These Are Tactics To Distract Me”

The ongoing battle over Sunjay Kapur’s estate has taken a fiery turn, with Mandhira Kapur Smith, the late businessman’s sister, condemning Priya Sachdev, his widow, for initiating a criminal defamation case against her. Mandhira claims these allegations are mere tactics by Priya to divert attention from the ongoing legal issues. She also shared that she remains in close contact with Karisma Kapoor and her children.

According to a report by Bar and Bench, Priya Sachdev alleged that Mandhira Kapur Smith repeatedly shared videos and posts on social media platforms, including YouTube, containing false statements aimed at damaging her reputation through hatred, ridicule, and social ostracism. She has now firmly denied these accusations. In an interview with HT City, Mandhira asserted, “I have never spoken anything false. Everything I said is part of the court proceedings. If I lied about something, tell me—I guarantee I haven’t. The media got to know about this before I did! These are just tactics to distract me from what’s really happening.”

Mandhira Kapur Smith On Mother Rani’s Stress

The feud involves Sunjay Kapur’s family members—including his mother Rani, ex-wife Karisma Kapoor, and her children—who are engaged in a bitter legal dispute with Priya over his Rs 30,000 crore estate. Mandhira also revealed her mother’s distress over the situation, saying, “My mother and I talk every day. She says, ‘Get everything back; your father (Surinder Kapoor) and I built this.’ It’s heartbreaking what our family is experiencing. I won’t lie about the truth. If Priya is upset, I understand, but the reality is that my mother, who built everything, currently has nothing in her name. It’s unimaginable what she’s going through.”

Mandhira further accused Priya of holding unauthorised control over Sunjay’s assets. “All these assets belong to my mother, my sister, myself, and my brother’s children. We never intended to exclude Priya from the family inheritance; she’s the one who’s acted otherwise. Nothing was meant to be solely hers. My parents always planned for these assets to be in my mother’s name during her lifetime, as my father wished,” she explained.

Mandhira Reveals Being Close To Karisma Kapoor, Samaaira & Kiaan

Despite the ongoing dispute, Mandhira maintains her close connection with Karisma Kapoor and her children, Samaaira and Kiaan. She expressed sympathy for their loss, stating that the children lost a cherished friend and her mother lost her son. Addressing the broader issue, Mandhira emphasised, “People focus on the money, but it’s also about my father’s legacy. Priya’s claims that my brother’s company was mismanaged and that he brought it down are false—the company was doing very well. If I wanted, I could file a defamation case against her now. If she wants to keep playing this game, I have nothing to lose.”

As of now, Priya Kapur has not responded to Mandhira Kapur Smith’s remarks.
