Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra area on June 14, 2020. A Mumbai court has issued a notice to actor Rhea Chakraborty, seeking her response to the closure report filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. The central agency had, in March, submitted its closure report in the five-year-old case before a magistrate court in suburban Bandra.

Mumbai Court Asks Rhea Chakraborty To Respond To CBI Closure Report By August 12th

Subsequently, the matter was transferred to the Esplanade court in South Mumbai, which handles CBI cases. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate R D Chavan, presiding over the case at the Esplanade court. Earlier this month issued a notice was issued to the original informant/victim/aggrieved person (Chakraborty). She had filed a complaint against Rajput’s sisters and a doctor, alleging they were responsible for his death.

The next hearing is scheduled for August 12. After the investigation, the CBI submitted a closure report. The court will now decide whether to accept this report or order further investigation by the agency. During its probe, the CBI recorded Chakraborty’s statements. It was reported that in a relationship with Rajput and others in his close circle, and collected his medical records.

Rajput (34), who hailed from Bihar, was found hanging from the ceiling of his Bandra apartment on June 14, 2020. The central agency also took over the investigation from the Bihar Police. It had registered an abetment of suicide case against Chakraborty based on a complaint filed in Patna by Rajput’s father, K K Singh. In his complaint, Rajput’s father alleged that Chakraborty and her family members misappropriated his son’s money, a charge she has denied in TV interviews.

About CBI Closure Report

In March, the CBI released its closure report into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. They filed nearly 5 years after his passing. They stated that there was no foul play involved, according to sources familiar with the matter. Officials said that, based on expert opinions, analysis of the crime scene, witness statements, and forensic reports, the federal investigation agency concluded that there was no evidence to support allegations that anyone could have driven the actor to commit suicide.
