Tanishaa Mukerji Recalls Near-Death Accident With Dino Morea, Gaurav Kapur During Her Film Debut Shoot; Says, “Had A Dangerous Head Injury, Temporay Memory Loss”

Tanishaa Mukerji shared that she, Dino, Gaurav, and the film's director, Pavan S Kaul, were travelling together when their car skidded on black ice and fell into a gorge.

Actor Tanishaa Mukerji opened up about a terrifying car accident that happened during the shooting of her debut film Sssshhh… in 2003. The incident took place in Manali, where she was filming with co-stars Dino Morea and Gaurav Kapur. The accident left her with a serious head injury, temporary memory loss, and a long recovery period.

Tanishaa Mukerji On Her Accident

Tanishaa shared that she, Dino, Gaurav, and the film’s director, Pavan S Kaul, were travelling together when their car skidded on black ice and fell into a gorge. Speaking to Vickey Lalwani, she said, “My director was driving the car. It slipped on black ice and we tumbled into a gorge. All of us were injured.” Gaurav Kapur had fractures in his arm, and Dino Morea also suffered a fracture.

Tanishaa’s injuries were the most severe. “I had a dangerous head injury. The doctors told me my brain had shifted due to the impact and caused swelling. It took more than a year to fully heal,” she said.

She also revealed that the accident caused temporary memory loss. “I forgot everything. Just like in movies, I woke up and didn’t know who anyone was. My mother was with me in Manali, and we had to travel to Delhi for treatment,” she recalled.

Despite the trauma, Tanishaa continued working and finished the film. Sssshhh…, a thriller directed by Pavan S Kaul, marked her official Bollywood debut. As the younger sister of Kajol and a part of the Mukerji film family, Tanishaa showed remarkable strength, balancing recovery and work after a life-changing accident.
