Varun Dhawan Reveals Border 2 Co-Star Sunny Deol Inspired Him To Do An Army Film; Says, “Bachpan Mein Maine Border Dekhi Thi Aur…”

During the launch event of Border 2’s song launch, ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge,’ in Jaisalmer, Varun Dhawan emphasised that films like Border demonstrate that the nation is fully capable of defending itself against threats, drawing thunderous applause from the audience.

Celebrating the connection between cinematic heroes and real-life defenders, the makers of Border 2 chose the historic city of Jaisalmer as the grand setting for the unveiling of the iconic song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’. During the same event, Varun Dhawan revealed he was inspired by Sunny Deol’s Border to do an armed film someday.

When asked about his feelings of being a part of the Border 2 song Ghar Kab Aaoge, Varun Dhawan said, “Namaskar aap sabko yahan pe. Sabse pehle toh main yeh kehna chahunga ki jaise Sunny sir ne kaha, bachpan mein unhone Haqeeqat dekhi thi, tab se unke dil mein ek chah thi ki woh Armed Forces par ek film karein. Bachpan mein maine Border picture dekhi thi, aur mere dil mein bhi ek khwahish thi ki main kabhi na kabhi Armed Forces ka hissa ban kar koi kirdaar nibhaun. Only because of Sunny, sir. Sach mein, yeh jazba, yeh himmat poore desh mein aayi thi us waqt jab humne yeh picture dekhi thi—ki hamara desh kitna taqatwar hai. Maine kabhi sapne mein bhi nahi socha tha ki main kabhi is gaane ka hissa banunga. Toh maine kabhi socha nahi tha ki Border 2 banegi, yaa yeh gaana banega.”

He continued, “Waise toh hamara desh bahut aman, shanti aur pyaar wala desh hai. But kabhi-kabhi Border jaisi films ka aana bahut zaroori hota hai. Kyunki isse hamare desh ke saare youth, saari yuva peedhi ko yeh bataya jaata hai ki hamare desh mein woh jurrat hai, woh jazba hai. Isliye Border 2 jaisi film ka banna bahut zaroori hai. Agar hum 1971 mein ek doosre desh ko freedom dila sakte hain. Toh usi waqt hum apni khud ki freedom ke liye ladh bhi sakte hain. Maine kabhi yeh socha nahi tha. Bas aap please jaakar film dekhiye—23 January ko. Aur film mein mera ek dialogue hai: ‘Is baar hum border mein ghusenge nahi, hum border hi badal denge.'”
