Varun Dhawan Reveals Daughter Lara Was Diagnosed With DDH

Varun Dhawan recently shared that his daughter was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH), a condition that affected her ability to walk and run normally. The actor and his wife, Natasha Dalal, welcomed their daughter, Lara, on June 3, 2024.

Varun Dhawan Reveals Daughter Lara Was Diagnosed With DDH

In a recent episode of Be A Man, Yaar!, Varun revealed that Lara was diagnosed with DDH when she was around one and a half years old. He explained that she underwent a medical procedure and is now in recovery. “My daughter was diagnosed with DDH, where the hip slips out of the socket. One leg becomes shorter than the other, which causes an uneven limp while walking. You can’t walk or run properly,” Varun shared.

He added, “Early treatment is crucial to prevent arthritis and other issues. In the West, this condition is treated very well from birth. In India, such advanced treatment isn’t available everywhere yet, but there are many excellent doctors here who take care of it.”

Fortunately, Lara didn’t need surgery; a single procedure was enough to put her hip back in place. However, she had to wear a spica cast for 2.5 months, which was very challenging. “She was put under anaesthesia, woke up in the cast, and now the cast is removed. I actually want to write a book about this experience,” he said.
