Vedang Likely To Play Lead In Sooraj Barjatya's Modern Version Of Vivah

Filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is working on more than one exciting project. After casting Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari in his upcoming family drama, he is now planning to revisit some of his classic films. Barjatya wants to turn his older hits into modern-day stories.

Vedang Likely To Play Lead In Sooraj Barjatya’s Modern Version Of Vivah

One of the biggest updates is that Barjatya is planning a fresh version of his 2006 romantic drama Vivah, which originally starred Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. According to News18 source, after selecting Ayushmann to play “Prem” in one project, the director is now considering Vedang Raina to play the new Prem in the updated Vivah.

“Sooraj has already spoken to Vedang about the role,” the source said, “but nothing is officially confirmed yet.”

Vivah (2006) told the love story of Prem and Poonam, who fall for each other after an arranged engagement. The story explored themes like love, respect, and family values. The emotional twist came when Poonam suffered severe burns before their wedding, testing the strength of their bond.

Vedang’s Work Front

Vedang Raina was last seen in Jigra, alongside Alia Bhatt. The film, directed by Vasan Bala, was an emotional drama about a brother-sister relationship. Vedang is also working with Sharvari in an upcoming project directed by Imtiaz Ali, which adds another big film to his growing career.

If the modern version of Vivah goes forward with Vedang, fans can expect a fresh take on a beloved classic, with a younger cast and updated storytelling for today’s generation.
