Veteran actor Prem Chopra has been hospitalised. As per reports, the actor – known for his performances in films like Bobby, Do Raaste, Trishul, Mard, Kranti and more, has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, since Saturday (November 8) due to chest congestion. Prem Chopra Hospitalised For Routine Checkup
Speaking to India Today, his son-in-law, actor Vikas Bhalla confirmed the news of Prem Chopra’s hospitalisation. Bhalla added that it is a precautionary measure and that the veteran actor is doing fine and would be discharged in a couple of days. He was quoted saying, “It’s all age-related, and a regular procedure. There is nothing to worry about.”
However, according to an IANS report, the doctor revealed the actor has been admitted following a heart condition and a viral infection. The news agency quoted Dr Jalil Parker saying in a statement, “Prem Chopra ji was admitted to Lilavati Hospital two days ago under his family cardiologist Dr Nitin Gokhale. He has a heart issue also and he also developed a viral infection, lung infection, for which I am also the treating physician in the same team. He is not in the ICU, he is in the rooms, in the wards and he is not critical”.
Chopra began his film career with Punjabi cinema, making his debut in the National Award-winning film Chaudhary Karnail Singh (1960). From the late 1960s to the mid-1990s, Chopra appeared in a string of successful films including Do Raaste (1969), Kati Patang (1970), Do Anjaane (1976), Dostana (1980), and Kranti (1981).
