Vicky Kaushal Celebrates Sam Bahadur’s National Award Win

Actor Vicky Kaushal is filled with pride as his film Sam Bahadur received major recognition at the 71st National Film Awards, announced on August 1 at the National Media Centre in New Delhi. The film, a war biopic directed by Meghna Gulzar, is based on the life of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw. Vicky played the lead role and has now shared his excitement on social media.

Posting on his Instagram story, Vicky wrote, “So proud!!! Congratulations team️”, celebrating the film’s multiple wins. Sam Bahadur bagged three National Awards in categories related to National, Social, and Environmental Values.

Producer Ronnie Screwvala expressed his joy over the win. “Winning the prestigious National Award for two of our very special films, including Sam Bahadur, is a moment of great pride. At RSVP, we always aim to create films that matter. These awards are a huge honour, and we are truly thankful to the jury and the audience. This encourages us to keep telling impactful stories.”

The National Film Awards celebrate the best in Indian cinema across multiple languages and genres. The official award ceremony will take place later this year at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Other major winners included Shah Rukh Khan, who won his first National Award for Jawan, sharing the Best Actor award with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail. Rani Mukerji won Best Actress for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. Kathal, starring Sanya Malhotra, was awarded Best Film on social issues. Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, received recognition in technical categories, while 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, was named Best Feature Film overall.
