Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has weighed in on the ongoing rumours surrounding actors Vijay and Trisha Krishnan. The director shared a lengthy note on Instagram where he addressed the speculation about their alleged relationship and spoke about the importance of personal freedom and dignity in matters of the heart. His post came at a time when social media had been buzzing with discussions about the two actors’ personal lives.
Vikram Bhatt Backs Vijay Thalapathy, Trisha Krishnan Amid Affair Rumours
In the post, Bhatt reflected on the intense scrutiny celebrities often face and shared his thoughts on relationships and happiness. He wrote, “There has been a great deal of noise about the personal lives of Vijay and Trisha Krishnan. I do not know whether the rumours online are true or not. But if they are, then I feel compelled to say a few things.”
Reflecting on his own experiences and a recent difficult phase in his life, the filmmaker drew a comparison between physical confinement and the emotional restrictions people often face in relationships. He wrote, “My recent incarceration has made me understand the value of freedom. What it is to crave a cup of tea that is not going to come. What it is to hunt for a tube of toothpaste. What it is to wait for seven in the evening, when the bail applications come in.”
He then extended that analogy to relationships, arguing that being forced to stay in an unhappy situation can be another kind of prison. The filmmaker added, “But there is a worse incarceration. It is the incarceration of the human soul. The incarceration of happiness. When two people remain trapped in a relationship that has run its course, but society insists that the relationship must continue; that too is a prison.”
Drawing from his own past experiences with love and heartbreak, Bhatt explained how human emotions are often unpredictable. He wrote, “I have been on both sides of that equation. I have been somebody’s fool, and I have been fooled. In other words, I have been there. Done that. Got the T-shirt. The human heart is fallible. It goes where it finds happiness. It came together to find happiness and its going away to find happiness.”
Vikram Bhatt Praises Vijay-Trisha
Speaking more personally, the filmmaker said that if he were ever in such a situation, he would prioritise dignity and self-respect over staying in a relationship without love. “Speaking for myself, I would walk out of a loveless relationship. I might walk out with money. I might walk out with property. But most importantly, I would walk out with my honour and my dignity.”
Bhatt also suggested that there is a certain honesty in not hiding emotions, which he believes deserves respect. He wrote, “I find something admirable in Vijay and Trisha. There is dignity in not pretending that something does not exist. There is dignity in not hiding love as though it were something sinful.”
The filmmaker then criticised the hypocrisy he feels often exists in public judgment, particularly on social media, saying, “We all know the other kind of life that people live. Men who run anonymous profiles on dating sites. Men who delete their messages before they get home.
Men who spend afternoons with women they will never respect enough to acknowledge publicly. And yet it is often these very people who sit in judgment over others.”
Vikram Bhatt Says Individually We Are Compassionate People
Bhatt also spoke about how public opinion changes when individuals become part of a larger collective mindset. He added, “Individually, most of us are compassionate people. We understand weakness. We understand heartbreak. We understand the complicated nature of love. But something changes when we become a collective. In a crowd, we suddenly become sinless. We become righteous. We become judges. And that is when empathy disappears.”
Concluding his message, the filmmaker emphasised that while audiences may feel connected to celebrities through their work, their personal lives should remain their own. “Their films belong to us. Their personal lives do not. I will always stand for the freedom of the human heart.
They have a right to live and to love.”
Vikram Bhatt’s Alleged Rs 30 Cr Case
The filmmaker himself has often been open about his own complicated personal life. Recently, Vikram Bhatt also made headlines for legal troubles involving him and his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt. The couple was arrested by Rajasthan Police in December 2025 in connection with an alleged Rs 30-crore cheating case. Bhatt and his wife spent time in judicial custody in Udaipur before being granted relief by the Supreme Court on February 19, 2026, an experience the filmmaker later referenced while reflecting on freedom and personal choices in his recent Instagram note.
Vijay-Trish’s Public Appearance Sparks Buzz
The discussion around the two actors intensified recently after Vijay and Trisha Krishnan were seen together at producer Kalpathi S. Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh’s son’s wedding reception in Chennai on March 5.
The appearance came amid Vijay’s ongoing divorce proceedings with his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam. In her petition, she reportedly accused the actor of having an extramarital relationship with an actress, which fuelled speculation about his alleged closeness with Trisha.
However, neither Vijay nor Trisha Krishnan has publicly commented on the rumours surrounding their relationship. Vijay and Trisha have previously shared screen space in several films over the years, including Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006), Kuruvi (2008), and Leo (2023). Their on-screen chemistry has long been appreciated by fans, which has also contributed to the ongoing interest in their off-screen equation.
