Vivek Oberoi Aishwarya Rai Bachchan meme

Vivek Oberoi has faced a lot of flak since yesterday. It all began with a meme that he posted on social media which compared the current political scenario in India to that of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s romantic life. It was funny no doubt, but it didn’t go down well with the masses as many thought it was made in bad taste. Vivek even spoke to a media channel and said that he has done nothing wrong, and there was no need to apologise. Now, he has taken a step back and apologised.

Not only that, Vivek has also deleted the tweet which was the root cause of all the problems. He tweeted this morning saying, “Sometimes what appears to be funny and harmless at first glance to one, may not be so to others. I have spent the last 10 years empowering more than 2000 underprivileged girls, I cant even think of being disrespectful to any woman ever. Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies?? tweet deleted (sic).

It is indeed true that Vivek has been working on women empowerment since a really long time. The actor definitely wouldn’t do anything in order to make any woman feel terrible. However, with his movie releasing this Friday, it seems like this could well have been a publicity stunt to be back in the news.

Well Vivek, as Karan Johar once said on his chat show, “People in India need to have a better sense of humour.” It is probably because of this that many actors like Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and others are there on social media anonymously.

It’s a great gesture from your end to have deleted the tweet and finally apologised. Let’s hope it was not at all a publicity stunt for your upcoming film, ‘PM Narendra Modi’.
