Former cricketer and actor Yograj Singh is not someone who minces his words. Yograj – who is the father of celebrated cricketer Yuvraj Singh, recently made a shocking revelation about his son’s marriage to actress Hazel Keech. The former cricketer – in a chat, stated that he had once asked Yuvraj to “change the breed” when it came to choosing his life partner. Scroll below to read what he said.
Yograj Singh On Son Yuvraj Singh’s Wedding, Bond With DIL Hazel Keech
During a recent candid chat on Krishnank Atrey’s YouTube channel, Yograj Singh recalled how society had often urged him to get son Yuvraj Singh married in his 20s. Stating that he strongly opposed the idea as he wanted his son to focus on his game, the former cricketer said, “People wanted me to marry Yuvraj off in his 20s. I said, ‘Is he old already?’ When he turned 38, I told him, ‘Now you can think about it. I can’t choose for you. It’s your life, so find your partner.’”
He continued, “But I did request him to change the breed. People hearing this might oppose it, but we wanted an Irish or English girl in the family. And then Hazel [Keech] came into our lives.” For he unversed, Keech is of half-British, half-Mauritian origin. She is known for her work in films like Billa and Bodyguard.
During the same conversation, Yograj made it clear that Hazel was everything he had hoped for and more. He said wih warmth, “They have such beautiful kids, and they treat me like their friend. I don’t call Hazel my daughter-in-law, she is my daughter.”
