Assam is paying its last respects to beloved singer Zubeen Garg; his funeral is taking place at Kamarkuchi NC village in Assam’s Kamrup district, near Guwahati. Priests have begun chanting mantras at the crematorium in preparation. Thousands have assembled at the site to pay their respects to the legendary artist.

Zubeen Garg’s Funeral Takes Place In Guwahati

In honour of Zubeen Garg, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a three-day mourning period, during which all official entertainment and celebrations have been suspended. Thousands of fans have gathered in Kamarkuchi, NC village to attend the funeral. To commemorate the legendary singer, Assam Minister and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Working President Keshab Mahanta revealed that the state government has allocated 10 bighas of land for a memorial at the funeral site.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and representatives from organisations such as Assam Sahitya Sabha, All Assam Students’ Union, and AJYCP, paid their last respects to Zubeen Garg. Union Minister Rijiju, attending on behalf of the central government, expressed his condolences. Similarly, the Assam Chief Minister paid his respects at the cremation ground.

After the second post-mortem, Zubeen Garg’s body arrived at the cremation site in Kamarkuchi NC village. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reached the crematorium to attend the final rites, sharing a heartfelt message on X.

The singer’s body, after the second post-mortem, is being taken to the cremation ground amid large crowds gathered to bid farewell. His younger sister, Pami Borthakur, will perform the last rites, accompanied by Arun Garg. He is a close associate and digital creator, and Rahul Gautam Sharma, a writer and lyricist close to the family, will be attending.

Zubeen-Garima’s 4 Dogs Arrive To Pay Tribute

Family members, including Zubeen Garg’s wife Garima, were seen bringing their four dogs—Iko, Diya, Rambo, and Maya—to pay tribute. The dogs were brought to the Sarusajai Stadium, where his body was earlier kept for public homage.
