Bareilly Ki Barfi

Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s sweet slice-of-life movie ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ showed a good growth at the box office on its second day. The movie which had an average start with approximately Rs 2.25 crore nett on the first day has shown a growth of around 70% as it has raked in Rs 3.75 crore nett on its second day. That’s a good growth for the movie. The total two-day business stands at Rs 6 crore and if the movie does slightly better than Saturday on Sunday, then it could do a business of Rs 10 crore in the first three days. That isn’t a really great figure but considering the movie didn’t face any competition from a biggie on its release day, the weekdays will help boost the numbers. ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ garnered good response from the critics and the audiences alike, so it’s a good thing to see that the numbers have increased from day one. Since it’s a sweet film and suitable for family audiences, Sunday could be better than Saturday. All the three actors Ayushmann Khurrana, Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Sanon have been earning praises for their performances. As the coming Friday, there is going to be a tough battle between three movies, ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’, ‘A Gentleman’ and ‘Qaidi Band’, this movie has only time until Thursday to earn as the festive period will be taken up by the new movies.

Talking about last week’s release ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’, it has entered the Rs 100 crore club and has done a business of Rs 104 crore nett approximately until now. The second weekend itself did a business of Rs 10 crore (Friday and Saturday). The star power of Akshay Kumar and the massy connect of the movie has also hampered the business of ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ to some extent.
