Irrfan Khan’s much-acclaimed film ‘Hindi Medium’ has recorded a roaring opening at the Chinese box office. The film has collected an amount of Rs 24.31 crore. This is higher than both the first-day collections of Salman Khan’s ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ in China; both being blockbusters in China.

‘Bajrangi Bhaiaajn’, on its first day, had minted Rs 14.61 crore in China. For ‘Dangal’, it was Rs 12.99 crore. ‘Hindi Medium’ has opened at 18,000 screens which is a number double than what ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ had got.

“When a different culture enjoys content that’s deeply rooted in our own culture, it’s exhilarating because it’s unexpected. And then it makes one realise how alike we all really are. Hindi Medium’s achievement in China truly celebrates the universal language of the film and that’s what I am so proud about,” says co-producer Dinesh Vijan.
