Jolly LL.B 2

Yesterday, Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Jolly LL.B 2’ released in cinema halls and being the solo release, we had expected the movie to register a bumper opening. But, the movie didn’t get a fabulous start at the box office. The movie grossed Rs 12 crore nett on the first day and the numbers are not that great.

It could possibly be because of Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaabil’ and Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ that are still being the preferred choice of movies for moviegoers.

‘Jolly LL.B 2’ has done better than Akshay Kumar’s earlier movie ‘Airlift’ by Rs 1 crore nett. It could be probably because ‘Jolly LL.B 2’ had the advantage of 1000 more screens as compared to ‘Airlift’. The numbers are less than ‘Rustom’ by 12% and also less than ‘Housefull 3’ by 20%.

The movie did a good business in East Punjab and Delhi where the opening numbers were on par with those of SRK-starrer ‘Raees’ that hit the screens on January 25, 2017. Other regions like West Bengal, CP Berar, Bihar, Mysore, Tamil Nadu, Kerala did a poor business, while Mumbai, Rajasthan and CI did an average business.

‘Jolly LL.B 2’ needs to perform really well at the box office on its first weekend as that will determine the fate of the movie in the coming week. ‘Jolly LL.B 2’ is written and directed by Subhash Kapoor and stars Akshay Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla in main roles. The movie is a sequel to the 2013 courtroom drama ‘Jolly LLB’ that starred Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani in central roles.
