‘Manmarziyaan’ box office collection: This Anurag Kashyap film makes a slow start

Despite rave reviews from critics, ‘Manmarziyaan’ had a slow start at the box office. A modern-day romance, ‘Manmarziyaan’ stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. It is expected that positive word of mouth will help the film’s collections over the weekend.

On its first day, ‘Manmarziyaan’ registered collections of Rs 3.52 crore. It didn’t have many takers for the morning shows, but the evening shows fared better.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figure today morning.

In our review of the movie, we wrote, “From the story-line, and performances, to Anurag’s taut direction, the film leaves an impact in your hearts. In spite of being emotionally complex, the movie manages to leave you full with its sheer wisdom.”

The film sees Abhishek Bachchan making a comeback to the big screen after two years, and his subtle yet nuanced performance has earned him a lot of accolades. Vicky Kaushal, who has been featuring in a spree of great films (‘Raazi’, ‘Sanju’) has also managed to leave critics impressed with his performance. Even Taapsee Pannu received the ultimate honour as she received a handwritten note from Amitabh Bachchan.

We are hoping that films like ‘Manmarziyaan’ do better at the box office, so that producers aren’t shy of investing in such good films.
