Well, on day one the film has collected Rs 10 crore approx. which is decent. However, while the first day collection of ‘PadMan’ is good, it has failed to beat the first day collection of Akki’s last five films.

‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ had collected Rs 11.34 crore on day one.

‘Rustom’, which was inspired by a true story, collected Rs 13.92 crore on day one.

Meanwhile, the collection of ‘Housefull 3’ was Rs 15.24 crore, and this was surely because of the franchise factor.

Talking about ‘Airlift’, the film on its day-one had collected Rs 11.12 crore.

It’s clear that ‘PadMan’ has failed to beat the first day collection of Akshay’s last five films. However, we cannot ignore the fact that the movie is about menstrual hygiene, so we are sure family audiences would be hesitant to watch it. However, looks like the movie will show a growth over the weekend because of the positive word of mouth. 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' BEATS 'Welcome To New York' on day one at the box office

This Friday, two movies clashed at the box office which included ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ and ‘Welcome To New York’. The first day box office numbers are here so let’s find out which movie managed to earn how much.

The Kartik Aaryan, Nushrat Bharucha and Sunny Singh-starrer ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ did a business of Rs 6.50 crore nett approximately. The best numbers came from Delhi NCR and East Punjab circuit.

The evening shows of the movie showed strong occupancy. Overall, the movie has performed well despite competition from ‘Welcome To New York’. (Also Read: Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety movie review: ‘Bromance VS Romance’, a refreshing-enjoyable war)

Talking of ‘Welcome To New York’, the movie has a disastrous opening as it did a business of Rs 75 lakhs nett. Considering the budget which is more than ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, the movie can’t go anywhere. Probably its spoof content has worked against it at the box office.

Clearly, ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ is the winner and that too by a large margin.

'Black Panther' overpowers 'Aiyaary' in the first weekend, as the latter disappoints

Neeraj Pandey’s thriller ‘Aiyaary’ starring Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles has registered a poor business in its first weekend.

The movie did a business of Rs 4.25 crore nett on Sunday which is exactly the same as its Saturday business and the three day total business is Rs 11.75 crore nett which is a disappointment. Even, Sidharth’s earlier outing ‘Ittefaq’ which was made at half the budget of this movie had done a better business of Rs 14.82 crore nett in its first weekend.

The American superhero flick ‘Black Panther’ which released on the same day as ‘Aiyaary’ has overpowered the latter and has done a decent business of Rs 18.75 crore nett over the weekend. Even though the numbers aren’t great, they are much better than ‘Aiyaary’.

Coming back to the crime thriller, the start hasn’t been a good one and considering the foreign locales and the star cast, the budget of the movie is surely above Rs 30 crore nett. So, if you take the budget into consideration, the collections are quite low and the movie needs a huge boost in the weekdays to earn any profit whatsoever.  (Also Read: Aiyaary movie review: The men in army fail to shine through the muddled up plot)
