Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’ earns more than Irrfan Khan’s ‘Madaari’ on first weekend

The Hindi dubbed version of ‘Kabali‘ starring Rajinikanth has minted around Rs 13.25 crore nett over the weekend which is not that huge, but it’s comparatively okay for a dubbed version of a South film.

The film has failed to work it’s magic in the North and East regions whereas Mumbai and Central India markets have done well. On Friday, ‘Kabali’ collected Rs 3.50 crore, Saturday was Rs 4.50 crore and Sunday’s collections stand at Rs 5.25 crore, so that makes the collection to a gross Rs 13.25 crore nett for 3 days.

The collections of Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Madaari’ have just been around Rs 8 crore nett over the weekend. The Sunday collections have been only Rs 3.50 crore, which is not that great as compared to Saturday earnings which were Rs 2.75 crore. The movie that was released in UK with almost 100 prints has not worked in the foreign market too, which is surprising. The makers were planning to cash in on Irrfan’s popularity in the foreign market, but that didn’t work either.

These collections clearly reflect that audiences have preferred the Thalaivaa over Irrfan Khan’s ‘Madaari’.
