Ranveer Singh starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar hit the theatres on May 13. Given the hype and the promotions, the social comedy failed to live up to the expectations at the box-office. The movie opened with low numbers on Day 1. Trade analysts had predicted that Jayeshbhai Jordaar would earn somewhere around Rs 5-6 crore on its first day, but it didn’t performed as expected.

According to reports, in India, the movie minted Rs 3.25 crore nett at the box-office on Day 1. The film reportedly didn’t see occupancy in cinema halls in the morning and afternoon shows.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar’s story revolves around Singh’s character, the son of the village head (Boman Irani) who is under pressure from the family to produce a male heir. But he is determined to save his unborn girl child. Jayeshbhai Jordaar is all about the crime of female infanticide and the dominance of alpha males in the society. Will Ranveer’s character be able to save his unborn child? It forms the crux of the story.

The movie has received mostly positive reviews from critics specially Ranveer’s performance has been lauded. Directed by Divyang Thakkar and produced by Yash Raj Films, it also starred Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani, and Ratna Pathak Shah in pivotal roles.
