Salman Khan's 'Sultan' earns Rs 37-38 crore on Day 1

Salman Khan’s Eid release ‘Sultan‘ did a huge business on the day of its release and earned around Rs 37-38 crore. The movie scored big numbers in the overseas market as well with around $3.50 million. It would have done even better if Eid wouldn’t have shifted by a day to Thursday as this factor somewhat affected the collections. This was the case across UP, Bihar, MP, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

The movie couldn’t break the All Time Record of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ that had grossed Rs 39 crore, but considering the fact that today is Ramazan and a holiday, we can expect some miraculous numbers today.

The film has broken records at multiplexes with most multiplexes recording the highest daily figures they have ever seen for any film. Although the circuit records are very less as the single screen business is well short of films like ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ , ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘Dhoom 3’.

The online leak of the movie that happened day before yesterday couldn’t hamper the collections and we are hoping for the numbers to be on an upswing considering it’s a holiday today and a good weekend ahead.
