The remake of 1994 cult classic ‘The Lion King’ released on July 19 and it got a positive response on Day 1. Jon Favreau’s animated movie opened with good numbers at the Indian box office. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle to share the Day 1 collection of ‘The Lion King’. He has written that it has a better opening than ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’. It pocketed Rs 10.05 crore on its first day.

Here’s Taran Adarsh’s tweet on ‘The Lion King’ box-office collection.

‘The Lion King’ was released in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on around 2140 screens in India.

For the Hindi version, Shah Rukh Khan has voiced the character of Mufasa and his son Aryan has lent his voice to Mufasa’s son Simba.

In a video message, Favreau, greeting the Indian audience, said, “Hello India, I am director Jon Favreau. I still remember the love you shared for ‘The Jungle Book’. It was heartening to see you connect so beautifully with Mowgli and his animal friends. Now, I am here with my new film, that I cannot wait for you to see. I am telling the story on a bigger grander scale with updated technology. I hope you fall in love all over again with Simba and his journey.”
