Toilet Ek Prem Katha first weekend collection

Many big films that have released in the past few months have failed to make a mark at the box office. But, finally the Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar-starrer ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ has given some relief to Bollywood. The movie in its first weekend has collected an amazing amount.

‘TEPK’ took a good start at the box office by collecting Rs 11.71 crore on its day one. The movie showed an excellent jump on Saturday and collected Rs 17 crore. It was expected that on Sunday also the film will do a very good business and will witness a jump. And proving our speculations right, indeed, on its third day the movie collected Rs 21.25 crore approx. taking the first weekend total to Rs 49.96 crore. The first weekend collection of the film makes it the fourth highest in the list of opening weekends till date.  We can surely expect the film to be stable today, and show a good jump tomorrow again as there’s a public holiday (Independence Day). If the film continues to do a great business at the box office, then it will surely reach 100 crore in just few days. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma-starrer ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ has been totally rejected by the audiences. The movie had collected Rs 57.63 crore in its first week, and in its second weekend the movie has collected a very low amount. On Friday it collected a mere 75 lakh, on Saturday and Sunday it collected Rs 1 crore respectively, taking the second weekend total to Rs 2.75 crore. The total collection of the movie is Rs 60.38 crore, which is a disaster. It’s really disappointing as everyone expected the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer to break the dry spell that has been creating a havoc on the box office.
