An intense love story shattered by rage: Nana Patekar-Manisha Koirala’s illicit affair revisited
Finally, it was the end of their love affair
Eventually, Manisha dated quite a few men like DJ Whosane, Crispin Conroy, Cecil Anthony. She got married to a Nepali businessman Samrat Dahal in 2010, but divorced him two years later. On the other hand, Nana moved on with his life, but regretfully spoke about how his wife will always be the pillar of strength of his life. As quoted by him in an interview, "Nilkanti and I shared numerous years of happiness together. We supported each other through thick and thin. But, over the years, we developed certain irreconcilable differences and grew apart. Today, we continue to be married but stay separately."
Heartbreaking words uttered by Nana post breakup
Post the much-hyped breakup, it looked as if Nana was least affected by it, but the reality was far from the same as the man had quoted in a leading magazine about his heartbreak. He said, "She is the most sensitive actress around. She is like a kasturi hiran, she still needs to realise that she doesn't need to keep pace with anyone. She has it all and that's more than enough. I can barely hold back the tears when I see what she's doing to herself. Maybe I don't have anything to say about her today! A break-up is a very difficult phase. You have to experience it to know the pain. I can't describe the pain I went through. Please, let's not talk about this. I miss Manisha!"
Infidelity was the cause of breakup
Nana Patekar who was living separately from his wife, was not ready to commit marriage to Manisha. She wanted to settle down with him, but he wasn't ready to take the plunge. The final nail in the coffin was when Manisha spotted Nana and Ayesha Jhulka in a closed room together. Manisha yelled at Ayesha, "Get off my man, you bi***." Apparently, these were the harsh words uttered by Manisha to Ayesha who was also a popular actress during the time. However, Ayesha denied of being in a relationship with Nana, he didn't take any extra efforts to revive his dwindling love affair with Manisha. Manisha who wasn't prepared to settle for the "other woman" tag in his life decided to move on.
Trouble in their paradise
Nana was already married to Neelakanthi when he was dating Manisha, and that was one of the prime reasons for Nana's refusal to marry Manisha. Also, the two were infamous for their volatile tempers and were spotted arguing on quite a few occasions. Nana's over possessiveness for Manisha kept on increasing as he didn't approve of her revealing outfits. They had an altercation on the sets of 'Yugpurush' and the two lovers started having arguments.
Their secret love affair was no more a secret
After working together in 'Agni Sakshi', the two were also seen in 'Khamoshi' which released in the same year. By this time, news of their torrid love affair had spread like wildfire. Unit members and neighbours informed that Nana used to frequent her house and was seen leaving her house early in the morning. In an interview, Nana had said, "She often visited my mother and son and they received her with affection."
Beginning of an intense love affair
Nana Patekar has been one of the most acclaimed actors our industry has witnessed. The 90s' era witnessed many stellar performances by the actor, but his personal life has also been in the limelight. While shooting for the movie 'Agni Sakshi' that released in 1996, the actor was enchanted by his co-star Manisha Koirala. The Nepalese beauty who was just out of a relationship at that time after parting ways with her 'Saudagar' co-star Vivek Mushran, couldn't escape Nana's brooding charm and thus, started an intense love affair between the two.
