When Aamir Khan went around Mumbai streets sticking posters of his film
Aamir Khan became an overnight star with his romantic movie ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ that released in 1988. Post that, he never looked back in his career and went on excelling in his field. In his career span, Aamir has done almost all genres of movies and due to his gripping performances, he has been rightly called Mr. Perfectionist.
Now several times we have seen our B-town stars losing their cool on fans but it is very rare when you will hear the public getting angry with stars. Well, Aamir Khan has that experience when he had to face the wrath of an auto driver. Yes, you read that right.
Early in his career, Aamir wanted to try his hands in direction and he wanted to get in the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Aamir told his father about it but he didn’t listen and asked him to concentrate on his studies. His father Tahir Hussain Khan wanted him to become a doctor or an engineer but not an actor.
Aamir was very stubborn and he wanted to fulfil his dreams. His father suggested him to work with his uncle Nasir Hussain who was a filmmaker and screenwriter. Aamir took his dad’s advice and started assisting his uncle. After assisting in many films, he made his on-screen appearance with the movie ‘Holi’ but he rose to fame with ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak‘.
Now as the movie was made on a low budget, the makers couldn’t promote it the way movies are promoted today. So in order to make it reach a larger audience, Aamir used to put the posters of his film on autorickshaws to let people know that he is the hero of the film. One day while he was pasting a poster in one of the autorickshaws, its driver got angry on Aamir and the actor had to cool him down. Little did the driver know that the person he is having a quarrel with will one day become one of the biggest stars of Bollywood.
When ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’ released, it was a blockbuster and is still loved by the cinephiles.
It is really applaudable what Aamir did to promote his movie and it is his down-to-earth nature and unique qualities that have made him achieve both name and fame in the industry.
