The team was going to shoot this kissing scene in a submerged aquarium at Hotel Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Apparently, the team had got only two hours to shoot this particular scene. Reportedly, Gulshan Grover was extremely nervous to shoot. In an interview to a leading daily, Gulshan Grover even revealed that the kissing scene in this film was the most difficult sequence that he had ever done in his career. Owing to this, Gulshan and Katrina had practiced the smooch several times in a closed room.

While Gulshan and Katrina were doing this practice, megastar Amitabh Bachchan entered the room. Gulshan revealed this fact saying that he walked into the room and cheered him. But, this only increased his Gulshan's stress further.

As everyone got ready for the shoot, director Kaizad came up to Gulshan and Katrina with a suggestion. He told the actress to glide over the table, grab Gulshan by his collar and smooch him. Apparently, this made Gulshan even more tense as he had not practised these suggestions along with Katrina. But, the actress confidently pulled it off and the duo perfectly shot for this liplock scene.

Much later, when Katrina had turned a more popular name in Bollywood, she was asked about this controversial scene. To which, the actress had then replied, "What's there to react in the first place? And what's new about those scenes. 'Boom' has always been all over the Internet. I don't deny I have done the scenes in the past but I wasn't comfortable." [sic]

As the film was ready for a release, Gulshan had then given an interview about the film saying, "'Boom'. An upmarket, wacky, crazy film. Jackie (Shroff), Amitabh (Bachchan) and I play gangsters. For once, I have a romantic angle too. Katrina Kaif tries to seduce me in the film." [sic]

Further, there were reports that 'Boom' will be re-released in DVD format with some intimate scenes of Katrina and co-star Gulshan Grover edited. However, Katrina had denied these rumours. She even gave a statement saying "That is not true. It is false information. The rights of the DVD are with Hindujas and it remains with them. They are not distributing or re-distributing it." [sic] During this time, Katrina was allegedly dating superstar Salman Khan who had also compelled the makers to do away with the kissing portion. As it was heard that those intimate scenes of Katrina were chopped off from the film's initial DVD on demand of Salman.
