Diana Penty

Actress Diana Penty is all geared up for her forthcoming flick ‘Lucknow Central’. The actress states that the screen time or length of a story doesn’t matter to her but the impact of it does. The actress who made her debut with ‘Cocktail’ that also starred Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan, opines that the perception of ‘models can’t act’ is too cliche.

She says, “I think this thought of ‘models can’t act’ is such a cliche! Many of our top heroines like Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma were models before entering Bollywood. And they are wonderful actresses. I really failed to understand why people are living with the misconception that we cannot act.”

When asked if the length of a character bothers her, she says, “No, if the role is powerful, screen timing doesn’t bother me… that becomes secondary then. I always think about the impact of the character in the film, after liking the story. For instance, in ‘Lucknow Central’, I am playing a strong headed woman in the men’s world.”

Speaking about her character in ‘Lucknow Central’ the actress says, “My character Gayatri Kashyap works for an NGO who helps prisoners to reintegrate into society and coming back to normal life once they come out of jail. The character is interesting because she is the woman working inside the prison; which is a male dominated work space. So she is confident, strong headed and stubborn at times.” (Also Read: Farhan introduces his ‘Lucknow Central’ co-star Diana aka Gayatri Kashyap)

After a successful modelling career followed by a good debut in the year 2012, she was seen after four years in ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’. So, when she was asked if it scares her to fade out from public memory as she doesn’t do many films, she said, “Whether a ‘Cocktail’, ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’, ‘Lucknow Central’ or ‘Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran’, these are the stories come once in a lifetime. Why should I miss out on them? I can wait because I believe in quality work.”

‘Lucknow Central’ is directed by Ranjit Tiwari, and it also features Farhan Akhtar, Gippy Grewal, Rajesh Sharma, Inaamulhaq, Ravi Kissen, Deepak Dobriyal among others. The movie is slated to release on September 15, 2017.
